Let’s face it, we all love our cozy bedrooms and the comfort of our own homes, but is it just me, or are we all tired of the same old study spaces we’ve had for the past year?

With shops and small businesses opening back up again, let me remind you, or even help you discover some of the area’s hidden study spots for us college students.

“My favorite places to study were coffee shops,” said Sarah Wynn, former graduate of South University, another institution in the area. “I did my best studying in coffee shops because usually other people in the shop would be doing work as well and this would motivate me to stay on task. Also, I found coffee shops to be very relaxing.”

TeBella Tea — St. Pete

This tea company located in Hyde Park, Tampa, and St. Pete brings such a warm feeling upon entering. Not only is the St. Pete location on the second floor of Station House, a commonplace for cocktails in the town and an already very welcoming building, but it also has a sort of timeless and comfortable aura about it.

Anyone is welcome to use the workspace, sit and enjoy the delicious treats, and let’s not forget, use the free Wi-Fi, offered at the tea house.

Founder, Abigail StClair, grew her business from one small shop to a growing market with several locations. While the shop specializes in countless categories of tea, it also offers a few bakery and pastry items to enjoy while you catch up on your studying.

The spacious floorplan offers tabletops, couches, and plenty of area to spread out and feel comfortable in your study space.

Craft Kafe — St. Pete

In the heart of downtown St. Pete, this gluten-free café presents organic goods that reflect the owner, Teddy Skiadiotis’, vision for quality coffee and quality baked goods.

The shop is strictly gluten-free and strives for this to stay their mission, especially when they get such positive feedback from their customers. Upon seeing the creations that come out of their kitchen, you would never believe that they have been made with not even an ounce of gluten.

While this is a smaller study space, it still offers comfort with a big couch and a few chairs, along with its warm, welcoming color scheme.

Felicitous — Temple Terrace

This tiny tea and coffee house has the heart of many USF Tampa students. With as close as it is to the campus, this is a popular stop for Bulls and even students from other universities in the area.

“It’s a small, cozy and quiet coffee shop, I recommended it to all of my friends,” said Wynn.

The owners had a vision of creating this space with comfort and quaintness, and they did just that. They even grew to open a second location, both in the Temple Terrace area.

Call me crazy, but the instant I walked into this adorable, quirky little shop, I felt as if I were walking into a grandmother’s home. Comfortable seating, coffee brewing and a variety of pastries that would make your eyes light up. It’s most definitely one of my favorites in the area and is worth the drive up from Tampa Bay.

Kahwa — St. Pete

Sarah also commented that this was one of her favorites in the area, and while she said it’s a bit busier with more hustle and bustle, it also has a relaxing feel to it.

Kahwa definitely has a more, business-like feel, but as Wynn mentioned, it also offers a welcoming comfort that inclines you to take a seat and open up your textbook with your warm coffee in hand. Like several others, Kahwa has a selection of baked goods if you get the need for a snack during your studies.

There are a number of locations throughout the area and is definitely a growing coffee spot.

Buttermilk Provisions — Wesley Chapel

While this isn’t located in the heart of the bay, like some of the businesses listed above, it’s a spot for those who live in the northern part of the area or don’t mind the extra driving.

Located in the city of Wesley Chapel, about 20 minutes north of Tampa, lies a small, family-owned coffee and tea shop that specializes in artisan goodies, and is even vegan friendly. With every edible item in the shop made daily in their own kitchen, you can be sure that you’re getting the best quality and the freshest ingredients from local sources.

The small shop has comfortable seating for both lounging and dining and is a popular study spot in the area, and while they’re currently relocating, they will have a new location in the town within the month.
